AN INDEPENDENT, UNOFFICIAL GUIDE

This is an independent guide to the fomo app, written by someone who uses it and has no connection to the company that makes it. In fomo you buy crypto from your phone, paying with Apple Pay or a debit card, and the app shows you what other people are buying while you do it. It is easy to start, which is also how people spend more than they meant to. Here you get the setup walked through, what each trade actually costs, our full review of the fomo app, and the things worth knowing before real money goes in. Plain English, no jargon, and we show our sources.

What is fomo?

fomo is a mobile app published by FOMO Labs, Inc. You buy and sell crypto in it, paying with a card, Apple Pay or a crypto balance you already hold. Its help center lists five chains (Solana, Base, BNB Chain, Monad and Ethereum) and fomo's own newsletter added a sixth, Robinhood Chain, in July 2026. Alongside spot trading there is a social feed where you follow other traders and watch their trades land. On the corporate side, fomo has announced roughly $94M raised, most recently a $75M Series B in June 2026 that it says was led by Index Ventures at a $550M valuation. Those funding figures come from the company and the coverage of its announcements, we checked them on 2026-08-14, and we have not audited them. Our What Is fomo? page covers the full picture, and our fomo app review is the verdict version: what it costs, what breaks, and who should skip it. None of that money is a coin you can hold: we went through fomo's blog, help center and X account on 2026-08-14 and found no token issued and no airdrop announced, which is worth knowing before you trust a site offering to let you claim the fomo token airdrop.

New to it? fomo trading, from signup to a filled order is the walkthrough, and it puts the fee check at the point you would actually make it rather than in a footnote.

The fee is 0.50% per trade, which is 50 cents on a $100 trade, and it comes from fomo's fee page at help.fomo.family (checked 2026-08-20). Small Solana orders are the exception: the same page prices them in bands by order size rather than at that one rate, so the smallest trades cost several times the headline as a percentage. The full breakdown of fomo's fees has every band and what each one works out to in dollars, and how we source figures sets out where every number on this site comes from and when we last read it.

On the wallet, here is the mechanism rather than the label. fomo's help center says your key is created and split into shares through Privy, the third-party key infrastructure its terms name, and that no single party, fomo included, holds enough shares to rebuild the wallet alone. That description stops at the export button. We cover what fomo's terms say changes after it in Is fomo Safe?. You can also reach perpetual futures through the app, though fomo's terms say it does not operate, control or settle them. Those orders route to Hyperliquid through a builder code, covered in our perps guide.

DECIDED ONCE, AT SIGNUP

Pay 0.45% instead of 0.50%, permanently

fomo's help center calls this a 10% discount, which is the same thing said a more confusing way: 10% off a 0.50% fee leaves you paying 0.45% on every trade. The same page says it applies automatically, with no code to enter later and no tier to climb.

The catch, again per the help center: a code can only be added at signup, and there is no documented way to apply one to an account that already exists. That is the whole argument for opening a link before you create your account, and it is the only reason this page pushes one. How the referral works has the full mechanics, including what the person who referred you earns.

Sourcing: both numbers read verbatim from fomo's referral help-center article, checked 2026-08-14. Per the same page, we earn 25% of the trading fees generated by people who sign up through our link, which is why the link is here. It costs you nothing extra and takes 10% off your rate.

NEW TO FOMO

Start here, in this order

Four steps, and the order matters. One of them you cannot undo later: your referral discount can only be added the moment you create your account.

If you would rather have the whole thing in one sitting, the first trade walkthrough runs from signup to a filled order, and deposits and withdrawals covers getting money back out again. If your first deposit is going on a card rather than in crypto, paying for your first trade with Apple Pay is the route that trips people up most, so it has its own walkthrough.

Work out what fomo actually is before you download it

fomo is a mobile app for buying crypto, where you can pay with a card or Apple Pay, with a social feed layered on top. Start with What Is fomo? for the full picture of the company and the app.

2

Understand the fee before you fund your account

Under the 0.50% headline sit three other Solana bands, so a $10 trade costs 20 cents rather than 5 cents and a $50 trade costs 95 cents. fomo Fees Explained works out the real math with every number sourced.

3

Know what changes the moment you export a key

fomo's help center describes a key split into shares, with no single party holding enough to rebuild it. Its terms describe something different once you export that key: it leaves unencrypted, and the security of your funds is yours. Is fomo Safe? covers key handling, key export, and real fake fomo sites to avoid.

4

Sign up through a referral link, then make your first trade

Per fomo's help center, a referral code can only be added at signup and gives a permanent 10% fee discount. Then work through your first trade.

HONEST CAVEATS

Who should not use fomo?

We make money when people sign up, so it is worth being blunt about who should not. These are the things we would want to know before creating an account.

  • You trade in small amounts on Solana. The bands below 190 USDC turn a $10 trade into a 2% cost and a $50 trade into 1.90%, which compounds fast if you trade often in small sizes. Read the full fee breakdown before you decide how you'll size trades.
  • You want the cheapest way to trade perps. Perps opened in fomo route to Hyperliquid through a builder code, and the 0.05% fomo adds ( fomo's perps fee article, checked 2026-08-14) roughly doubles the cost against Hyperliquid's own ~0.045% taker fee. You are paying for the convenience of one app, not for the lowest fee.
  • You are a US-based trader who wants perps. fomo's terms of service state, in those words, that “Perps functionality is not available to U.S. Persons.” That is fomo's access policy as written. Whether any particular person falls inside it, and what the law permits, are questions for you and an advisor rather than for us. That sentence in the terms covers perps only, not spot trading.
  • You don't want a social feed influencing what you trade. Seeing other traders' positions in real time is fomo's core feature, not an opt-in extra. If that sounds like more noise than signal to you, a plain buy/sell app may suit you better.
  • You are looking for automated copy trading. fomo's marketing page has a section headed “How Copy Trading Works on fomo,” but we found nothing in the help center documenting it as a live feature when we checked on 2026-08-14. See our social feed guide for what the feed actually does today.

Worth weighing against all that: onboarding is about as quick as anything we have used in this category, the referral discount is documented in fomo's own help center rather than inferred, and the split-key setup that help center describes means no one party holds the whole key while your funds stay in the app. Also read our full security breakdown for what changes the moment you export a key.

Where these figures come from

Every fee, rate and threshold on this page is read from fomo's own published documentation, its help center at help.fomo.family and its Terms of Service at fomo.family/terms, checked 2026-08-14. Where the two disagree, both are quoted rather than reconciled. Dollar amounts shown against a trade size are our own arithmetic over those published rates, not figures fomo quotes. Funding, user and volume totals come from fomo's own announcements and are attributed as self-reported, since we have not audited them.

ONE DECISION YOU CANNOT REDO

Lock in your discount before you sign up

fomo's help center says a referral code can only be added the moment you create your account, with no documented way to add one afterward. Ours takes your rate from 0.50% to 0.45%, permanently, on every trade.
