THE STACK
The fomo Trader's Stack
fomo handles execution and the social feed. It generates a wallet but doesn't hold it for you long-term, it won't file your taxes on a busy trading year, and it can't see the half of your portfolio that lives somewhere else. These are the tools that fill those gaps, and the cases where you should skip each one.
This site contains referral and affiliate links. Signing up to fomo through our link gives you a permanent 10% discount on trading fees, taking the standard rate from 0.50% to 0.45%, and pays us 25% of the fees you go on to pay. You are strictly better off using a code than not using one, and the code can only be entered at signup. We also earn commission on partner links such as hardware wallets, VPNs, and tax software, at no extra cost to you. None of that decides what makes the list, and it has not stopped us publishing the fee math: the page explaining what fomo actually charges once the $0.95 per-trade minimum applies is the one we put the most work into, and it is not flattering. We only recommend tools we would use ourselves, and we say plainly who each one is wrong for. Nothing here is financial advice.
How should I secure a fomo account?
fomo signs you in with an email or a social login and provisions an embedded wallet behind it, so your account security is your login security. Anything you are not actively trading belongs somewhere that a password reset cannot reach.
Open-source firmware and a Secure Element on the Safe models. Holds the long-term stack that should never sit behind an app login.
- Best for
- Anyone who wants auditable firmware and does not mind a slightly rougher desktop app.
- Skip it
- You need broad mobile Bluetooth support. That is Ledger territory.
The default hardware wallet for a reason: the widest wallet-app support, Bluetooth on the Nano X and Flex, and clean pairing with the mobile wallets you would move funds out to.
- Best for
- Traders who sign from a phone and want the smoothest mobile pairing.
- Skip it
- Closed-source firmware is a dealbreaker for you.
How do I file taxes on app-based crypto trading?
Volume is the problem, not complexity. A $0.95 minimum fee encourages larger, less frequent trades, but an active month still produces hundreds of disposals, and the fee itself is part of your cost basis.
Connect a Solana address and it pulls swaps and transfers without a CSV. Supports 20+ countries, not just the US.
- Best for
- Most traders, and anyone filing outside the United States.
- Skip it
- Your year is a handful of trades, and the free tier may cover you outright.
The simplest interface of the group, with TurboTax and TaxAct export built in. Preview your full gain/loss report before paying.
- Best for
- US filers who want to hand a finished 8949 to TurboTax and be done.
- Skip it
- You file outside the US or run heavy DeFi activity across many chains.
Built for volume. Handles hundreds of thousands of transactions and 13 costing methods, which is the bar a heavy trading year actually sets.
- Best for
- High-frequency traders whose trade count breaks other tools.
- Skip it
- You want a modern UI. This one is dense and dated.
How do I track a portfolio across apps and wallets?
fomo shows you what is inside fomo. If you also hold on an exchange, run a separate self-custody wallet, or trade perps on Hyperliquid directly, you need something that stitches the whole picture together.
On-chain intelligence with wallet labels. Useful for checking who is actually behind a token before you size into it.
- Best for
- Traders who build a thesis from on-chain flow rather than from a social feed.
- Skip it
- You trade what you see in fomo's feed and are not trying to verify it.
Portfolio tracker that ties exchange accounts and on-chain wallets into one balance, with mobile apps and alerting.
- Best for
- Anyone whose net worth is scattered across several wallets, an exchange, and an app like fomo.
- Skip it
- Everything you own already sits inside fomo.
Which crypto trading tools are free?
Most of what a fomo trader needs costs nothing, starting with the app's own social feed. Nothing in this section pays us anything, which is the point of listing it separately from the cards above.
- fomo's own social feed. Following traders and seeing their positions in real time is free and built into the app -- the closest thing fomo ships to research tooling. What it isn't is automated copy trading; see the social feed guide for the difference.
- Our fee calculator works out the real cost of a trade on your own size and chain, including the $0.95 minimum on small Solana orders, plus the dollar value of the 10% referral discount.
- GeckoTerminal is free and is what powers the price and liquidity data on our market pages. fomo has no public market-data API, so there is nothing to pay for on that side either.
- Solscan and DexScreener cost nothing and are the fastest way to sanity check a transaction or a pool outside the app you traded in.

The Stack Only Pays Off If the Account Does
Everything above exists to support the account itself. fomo's standard fee is 0.50% either way, but a referral link takes it to 0.45%, permanently, and that is decided at signup.
