EDITORIAL METHODOLOGY
How We Verify Figures
fomo's documentation is live and current. The problem is how fast it moves: fomo published three different Solana fee schedules between 2026-08-08 and 2026-08-20, without announcing any of them. This page describes how we handle that: the evidence tiers behind every number on this site, why each one carries the date we read it, and the claims we will not publish at all.
The problem: fomo's fee schedule keeps moving
Until recently the problem here was a contradiction. fomo's Terms of Use stated, with no order-size qualifier: “We charge a minimum fee of 0.50% per transaction (subject to a minimum fee of $0.95 per transaction),” while its help center scoped a different and smaller minimum to Solana alone. We quoted both rather than ruling on which governed, because that is a contract question a guide has no business answering.
That contradiction is closed. fomo rewrote its Terms on 2026-08-17, and section 7 now names no fee figure outside perps. It says the fee “depends on factors including the size and type of the transaction, the token involved, and how the transaction is routed,” that it “is displayed before you confirm the transaction,” and that fomo “may modify its fees at any time in its sole discretion.” One authority, clearly named.
What replaced the contradiction is a harder problem for a reference site. The schedule itself moves: fomo published three different Solana schedules between 2026-08-08 and 2026-08-20, none a rounding of the others, with no announcement we could find. So the rule here is that we re-read the source rather than carrying a figure forward, every fee on this site carries the date it was read, and no page claims a rate is current beyond that date. When a figure changes we say what it was before and when it changed, because a reader who acted on the old number deserves to know it moved. More on how that shaped the site on the about page.
The three evidence tiers
Every factual claim on this site traces to one of three tiers, and pages label which one they're leaning on whenever it matters.
| Tier | What it is | How much weight it carries |
|---|---|---|
| Terms of Service | fomo.family/terms, the agreement fomo asks users to accept | The most formal thing fomo publishes, and the shortest. We quote it verbatim where we can. Since the 2026-08-17 rewrite it names no fee figure outside perps and defers to whatever the app displays before you confirm, so it now tells you what fomo owes you rather than what it charges you. |
| Help center | help.fomo.family, fomo's support documentation | Longer and far more specific, and since the 2026-08-17 rewrite of the Terms it is the only fomo document carrying an actual fee schedule. It is also the one that moves: the Solana schedule changed on or about 2026-08-08, 2026-08-14 and 2026-08-19. We re-read it rather than carrying figures forward, and every page states the date it was read. |
| fomo's own marketing | fomo.family, its blog and its newsletter | Used for positioning, product announcements and launch dates, never for a figure we could instead source from the Terms or help center. Where the marketing describes a feature and the help center does not document it as live (copy trading is the clearest case), we say so. |
Below those three sit dated press reports, used for corporate events like funding rounds where no primary source is public, always attributed and always flagged as reported rather than established. We do not publish claims about a third party's ownership, funding or acquisitions unless we can point at a dated source in the same sentence. Reddit, X and App Store reviews are quoted only as evidence that a user problem exists, never as evidence that a number is correct.
Baseline figures we hold to source
These are the numbers every fee, referral and comparison claim on the site is checked against, last read on 2026-08-14. Where a row quotes fomo, the quotation marks are literal.
| Item | Figure | Tier |
|---|---|---|
| Standard trading fee | 0.50%, applying on Solana from 190 USDC up | Help center |
| Fee on select major tokens | 0.05% | Help center |
| Solana fee, orders under 190 USDC | Three bands: flat 0.10 USDC under 5, 2% to 47.50, flat 0.95 USDC to 190 | Help center, read 2026-08-20 |
| Ethereum fee | 0.50% per trade plus network fees, which fomo passes through rather than covering | Help center, read 2026-08-20 |
| fomo's cut on a perp | 0.05% per side, added on top of the settling venue's own fee | Help center |
| Who offers and settles perps | "Independent, third-party decentralized protocols," and fomo "does not operate, control, intermediate, custody, or settle Perps trading" | Terms of Service, quoted verbatim |
| Referral discount | 10% off, permanent, applied at signup only | Help center |
| Referrer earnings | 25% of referred user's trading fees | Help center |
| How the wallet key is handled | Split into shares through Privy, with no single party holding enough to rebuild it | Help center, describing its own product. Privy named in the Terms |
| Key export behavior | Transmitted unencrypted by Privy; user assumes the risk | Terms of Service |
| Chains | Solana, Base, BNB Chain, Monad, Ethereum, plus Robinhood Chain | Help center + live app; Robinhood Chain from the July 2026 newsletter |
| Perps access policy | "Perps functionality is not available to U.S. Persons" | Terms of Service, quoted verbatim |
The fee calculator encodes exactly these figures and nothing else.
Claims we refuse to publish
Every one of these circulates widely, and some appear on sites that rank above us. Each is excluded for a specific reason, not a stylistic one.
A fomo token or airdrop
We searched fomo's official channels on 2026-08-14 and found no token and no announced airdrop, and no official denial either. That second gap is what scam "claim your airdrop" sites work in. We say what we found and did not find, rather than repeating third-party speculation as fact.
Automated copy trading as a live feature
fomo's marketing page runs a section headed "How Copy Trading Works on fomo." We searched the help center and found nothing documenting it as an existing feature. We report that gap rather than assuming the marketing copy describes something live in the app today.
Any referral discount above 10%
Third-party posts and blog spam advertise "50% off fomo fees for life" and similar. The rate we read verbatim in fomo's help center is 10%. We publish that number and label anything above it as unsourced.
Legal, regulatory or tax conclusions
We will quote what fomo's Terms say about who can use a feature, and describe what the app does. We will not tell you what any law permits, whether a service is a custodian in a regulated sense, or how a trade should be taxed. Those turn on facts about you and on rules that differ by jurisdiction.
Where a claim is merely unverified rather than false, we say “unverified” on the page instead of dropping it silently or guessing.
Market data
The market pages pull prices, liquidity and volume from GeckoTerminal and DefiLlama rather than from fomo itself, since fomo has no public market-data API. Those figures move constantly and are presented as live data, not as verified editorial claims. Treat them as a snapshot and confirm anything you're about to size a position on.
The Solana Trading Cost Index
The cost index is published monthly and has two layers, which are kept separate on purpose. The measured layer is a live Jupiter quote per token per order size, recording the price impact and the exact route taken, plus the SOL price and a sample of recent Solana priority fees. The modeled layer is each platform's published fee schedule, applied to that quote. Adding them gives a comparable all-in cost with execution held constant.
Holding execution constant is what makes the six platforms comparable, and it is also the index's main limitation. Jupiter is the only one of the six that documents its own router. BullX, Photon, Axiom and GMGN do not publish what performs their swap routing, so a platform routing better than Jupiter beats these numbers and one routing worse misses them. Nothing in the index is an executed trade.
fomo appears at its standard published rate, never at the referral rate this site earns from. An index that quoted our own discount would be an advertisement rather than a measurement.
The first edition, the cost readings this methodology produces, is the worked example: the same six platforms, four order sizes, and the measured and modeled layers reported separately so you can see which half of each number we observed and which half we applied.
Every edition's raw JSON is published at a permanent URL alongside it, and published numbers are never edited. A build-time checksum on each edition file fails the build if a published edition changes, so a correction has to be a visible changelog entry rather than a silent rewrite. None of the five competitor fee pages carries a last-updated date, so each schedule records the date we read it, which is the only claim the sources support.
Review cadence
Every guide carries a Last Updated date in the byline. Pages built on figures that move (fees, the referral rate, chain coverage) also carry a Last Verified date recording the last manual check against fomo's Terms and help center.
Fee and referral pages are re-checked at least monthly, since a documented discrepancy like the fee-minimum one means a future fomo update could resolve it in either direction. Comparison and ecosystem pages are re-checked quarterly or when something material happens, such as a new funding round or a feature launch.
Limitations
Fee figures pulled from DefiLlama, like the realized 1.587% take rate on fomo's 30-day Solana volume, are our arithmetic on a third party's data rather than a fomo policy. We label them that way and show the working instead of presenting them as an official number.
Press coverage of funding rounds is secondhand and sometimes disagrees with itself on dates or amounts, in which case we give the range instead of picking a winner. Anything we say about another company's ownership, funding or corporate history is reported, not verified by us. This space moves fast enough that a figure checked today can be stale next month, so when accuracy matters for a decision you are about to make, follow the source link on the page.
Reporting something wrong
If a figure here looks out of date or wrong, tell us. The fastest route is a direct message to @Concept211 on X or an email via the contact page. Include the URL, the figure, and the source you're comparing against. Corrections are prioritized over new content.
Editorial independence and disclosure
FomoAppGuide earns from referral and affiliate links, set out in full on the about page. That does not decide which figures get published or how a comparison lands. The banded pricing on small Solana orders, which makes a $10 trade an effective 2% and a $50 trade 1.90%, is the least flattering thing on this site, and it is also the page we put the most work into: fomo Fees Explained. Where fomo's marketing describes a feature we cannot find documented as live, copy trading being the obvious one, that gets covered too.
