Trading on fomo
fomo is a mobile app built around a social feed, spot trading, and perpetual futures it doesn't actually run itself. What it sells is easy onboarding and visibility into what other traders are doing, across five chains.
Everything below is sourced from fomo's Terms of Service and help center, not assumed from its marketing copy. If you're new here, start with how to trade on fomo and come back.

The Social Feed: What It Actually Does
You can follow other traders on fomo, and their buys and sells show up in a feed you can browse -- similar in spirit to following someone on a social app, but the “posts” are trades. This is genuinely fomo's core product, and it's the feature that separates it from a plain buy/sell app.
The gap between the marketing and the help center
fomo's marketing page runs a section titled “How Copy Trading Works on fomo.” Its official help center, the more authoritative and detailed source, doesn't document copy trading as an existing feature at all. What's confirmed: you can follow traders and see their trades. What's not confirmed: any automated mechanism that mirrors those trades into your own account without you manually confirming each one. Full breakdown in fomo's social feed and the copy-trading gap.
Perps: fomo Doesn't Run Them
fomo's own terms of service are direct: “Perps accessible through the Services are offered, operated, matched, and settled entirely by independent, third-party decentralized protocols.” In practice, that third party is primarily Hyperliquid, one of the largest decentralized perpetual futures exchanges. fomo is a front-end, wired up to Hyperliquid's actual exchange underneath -- not the counterparty to your trade.
fomo gets paid through Hyperliquid's official builder code mechanism, adding roughly 0.05% per trade on top of Hyperliquid's own ~0.045% taker fee -- about double the cost of trading Hyperliquid directly. That's the standard rate for apps that route this way, not unusually expensive: Phantom charges the identical 0.05%. Full mechanics in how fomo perps actually work.
Not available to U.S. Persons
fomo's terms state plainly that perps functionality is not available to U.S. Persons and may be restricted in additional jurisdictions. This isn't fomo-specific -- Hyperliquid itself restricts US access -- but it means US-based traders see only fomo's spot trading.
What to Weigh Before You Trade
A frictionless buy button and a feed of other people's trades are a combination built to make buying feel easy, which is different from making it a good idea. Treat the feed as a discovery tool, not a signal -- seeing that someone bought a token tells you they bought it, not why, or whether they're about to sell.
On perps, you're paying a real premium for the convenience of one app bundling Hyperliquid's order book alongside spot trading and the social feed. If you're placing large or frequent perps positions, that premium adds up -- see our sister site HyperliquidGuide for what trading Hyperliquid direct actually costs.

Does fomo have copy trading?
fomo's marketing page runs a section titled 'How Copy Trading Works on fomo,' but its official help center does not document copy trading as an existing feature. Following someone in the feed shows you their trades -- it does not automatically mirror them into your own account.
How does the fomo social feed work?
You can follow other traders and see their buys and sells appear in a live feed as they happen. This is fomo's core differentiator from a plain buy/sell app.
Does fomo run its own perpetual futures exchange?
No. fomo's terms of service state that perps are offered, operated, matched, and settled entirely by independent third-party decentralized protocols -- primarily Hyperliquid. fomo is a front-end that routes your order there and adds its own fee.
What is a builder code?
A mechanism Hyperliquid provides that lets other apps, like fomo, add a small fee on top of trades placed through their interface. You approve the fee once; Hyperliquid still settles and custodies the trade.
Are fomo perps available in the US?
No. fomo's terms explicitly state perps functionality is not available to U.S. Persons, and may be restricted in additional jurisdictions.

fomo Perps: How They Actually Work (Hint: fomo Doesn't Run Them)
fomo's perpetual futures are Hyperliquid trades routed through a builder code, not fomo's own exchange. What that means for your fees, your funds, and who's actually on the other side of your trade.
