# fomo Fees Explained: What 0.50% Actually Costs You

> fomo's real fee schedule, worked out in dollars: the 0.50% headline, the $0.95 minimum on small Solana trades, the 0.05% rate on majors, and what perps actually cost.

Every review of fomo repeats "flat 0.5% fee" and moves on. We didn't. Here's what the fee actually is, sourced from fomo's own Terms of Service and help center, with the math worked out in real dollars.

> **Key takeaway:** The 0.50% headline is real for trades of a reasonable size. But on small Solana orders, a flat $0.95 minimum fee applies no matter how small the trade — so a $10 buy costs you 9.5%, not 0.5%. That's the number nobody puts in the marketing copy.

## The real fee schedule

Sourced directly from [help.fomo.family](https://help.fomo.family/en/articles/14436214-trading-fees-on-fomo). Rates vary by chain -- Solana carries the minimum-fee floor described below; Base, BNB Chain and Monad do not:

| Situation | Fee |
|---|---|
| Base, BNB Chain, Monad | 0.50% |
| Ethereum | 0.50% + network gas |
| Solana, order **200 USDC or more** | 0.50% |
| Solana, order **under 200 USDC** | **$0.95 flat minimum** |
| Select major tokens | 0.05% |
| With a referral code | 0.45% (10% off, permanent — see [referral guide](/ecosystem/fomo-referral-code)) |

fomo covers gas, priority fees, and Solana token rent on Solana, Base, BNB Chain and Monad — so the fee above is close to the whole cost, except on Ethereum.

## What the minimum actually costs you, in dollars

This is the table that matters more than the headline percentage:

| Trade size | Fee paid | Effective rate |
|---|---|---|
| $10 | $0.95 | **9.50%** |
| $25 | $0.95 | **3.80%** |
| $50 | $0.95 | **1.90%** |
| $100 | $0.95 | **0.95%** |
| $190 | $0.95 | 0.50% (break-even) |
| $500 | $2.50 | 0.50% |

> **Tip:** If you're trading in small amounts on Solana, you're paying a much higher percentage than the app's marketing suggests — not because of any hidden fee, but because a flat dollar minimum is a much bigger bite out of a small trade. Trading less often, in larger amounts, is the direct way to reduce what the minimum costs you as a share of your money.

## Two documents that disagree, and we're not picking a side for you

fomo's **Terms of Service** state, without any qualification:

> "We charge a minimum fee of 0.50% per transaction (subject to a minimum fee of $0.95 per transaction)"

Read literally, that applies to every transaction, on every chain. But fomo's **help center**, which is the more detailed and specific document, scopes the $0.95 minimum specifically to Solana orders under 200 USDC — and states different numbers entirely for Base, BNB Chain, Monad and Ethereum.

We're quoting both because the disagreement is real, not because we're hedging. If you're trading on a non-Solana chain and see a fee that doesn't match the small-order minimum, the help center's chain-specific numbers are the more likely explanation — but the Terms of Service is the legally binding document, and it doesn't say that.

## What fomo's own volume implies about the real average

DefiLlama, an independent data tracker, shows fomo's spot trading collected **$8,693,076** in fees over 30 days on **$547,753,905** of Solana volume — a realized rate of **1.587%**, more than three times the 0.50% headline. Working backward, that's consistent with an average trade size of roughly **$59.86**, right in the range where the $0.95 minimum bites hard. In other words: the minimum isn't a rare edge case. Based on fomo's own volume data, it looks like it applies to the *typical* trade.

## What perps actually cost

fomo's perpetual futures aren't run by fomo — they're trades placed on outside venues, primarily **Hyperliquid**, through what's called a builder code. Per fomo's [help center](https://help.fomo.family/en/articles/15453645-perps-trading-fees):

- fomo charges **0.05% per trade, on both opening and closing** a position — roughly 0.10% round-trip in fomo's own fee alone.
- On top of that, **Hyperliquid's own fee applies**: roughly 0.045% for a typical taker order.
- All-in, that's about **0.095% per side** — close to double what you'd pay trading directly on Hyperliquid.

For context, 0.05% is the standard rate across mobile trading apps that route to Hyperliquid this way — Phantom charges the identical 0.05%. fomo isn't unusually expensive on perps; it's simply not the cheapest way to reach the same liquidity, and no fomo review we found mentions this at all. See our sister site [HyperliquidGuide](https://hyperliquidguide.com) for the full mechanics of how builder codes work.

> **Note:** fomo's spot fee (0.50%) is ten times its perps fee (0.05%). That's the opposite of what a lot of trading platforms do, where leveraged products carry the higher fee. Worth knowing if you were assuming perps would be the more expensive product on fomo.
