This is a review of the fomo app by someone who uses it, publishes fee arithmetic about it, and earns a commission if you sign up through the link on this page. That last part is why the fee section is the longest one.

> **Key takeaway:** fomo is easy to start and expensive to trade small on. Per its published schedule, a 10 USDC Solana order costs 0.20 USDC, an effective 2%, while a 500 USDC order costs 2.50 USDC, which is the advertised 0.50%. The app itself works: card and Apple Pay funding, a social feed, six chains, and perps. What breaks is predictable and mostly unexplained inside the app, which is the gap this site exists to fill. It suits someone buying in the hundreds who wants one app on a phone. It does not suit someone buying in tens, or anyone who wants the cheapest route to any of it.

## Short answer: is fomo worth it?

fomo is a mobile crypto trading app from FOMO Labs, Inc. You buy and sell from your phone, funding with Apple Pay, a debit card, or crypto you already hold, and a social feed shows what other people on the app are buying while you do it. It works, and it is the easiest on-ramp we have used.

The cost is the whole argument. Per fomo's [trading fees article](https://help.fomo.family/en/articles/14436214-trading-fees-on-fomo) at help.fomo.family, checked 2026-09-01, Solana orders are priced in four size bands rather than at one rate, and the bands make a small order expensive: 2% of the order value between 5 and 47.50 USDC, against 0.50% from 190 USDC up. Every other supported chain is a flat 0.50%.

So the recommendation splits on order size rather than on features. Buying in the hundreds, fomo costs what it says it costs and the convenience is close to free. Buying in tens, you are paying a convenience premium of roughly four times the headline. Nothing else on this page changes that.

**Signing up anyway?** — Open our link before you create the account and your rate is 0.45% instead of 0.50%, permanently, per fomo's referral documentation. It cannot be added afterwards. [Get the fomo app](https://fomo.family/r/Concept211)

## What does fomo actually cost?

Every figure below is read from fomo's own [trading fees article](https://help.fomo.family/en/articles/14436214-trading-fees-on-fomo), checked 2026-09-01. The schedule has moved three times since we started tracking it, so treat any figure on any site, including this one, as a reading with a date attached rather than a promise.

| Where you trade | What fomo charges |
|---|---|
| Base, BNB Chain, Monad, Robinhood Chain | 0.50% per trade |
| Ethereum | 0.50% per trade plus network fees |
| Select major tokens | 0.05% per trade, with a flat minimum of no more than 0.50 USDC under 1,000 USDC |
| Solana, under 5 USDC | a flat 0.10 USDC |
| Solana, 5 to 47.50 USDC | 2% of the order value |
| Solana, 47.50 to 190 USDC | a flat 0.95 USDC |
| Solana, 190 USDC and above | 0.50% per trade |

The Solana bands are the part worth understanding, because they are where the headline rate stops describing your bill. Working the same article's figures through a few order sizes, which is our arithmetic rather than fomo's:

| Order | Fee | Effective rate |
|---|---|---|
| $10 | $0.20 | 2.00% |
| $50 | $0.95 | 1.90% |
| $100 | $0.95 | 0.95% |
| $190 | $0.95 | 0.50% |
| $500 | $2.50 | 0.50% |

The bands meet exactly at their edges, so there is no cliff to size around. What there is instead is a floor: the advertised 0.50% only becomes your real rate at 190 USDC.

fomo covers gas, priority fees and Solana token rent on Solana, Base, BNB Chain, Monad and Robinhood Chain, per the same article, so those do not arrive as a separate line. Ethereum is the exception and passes network fees through. Perps carry their own 0.05%, and that figure now sits in [fomo's Terms of Service](https://fomo.family/terms) rather than only in the help center, stated as being in addition to whatever the third-party protocol charges.

Full working, band by band, is in [fomo Fees Explained](/guides/fees/fomo-fees-explained), and the [fee calculator](/tools/fee-calculator) will price a specific order for you.

## What fomo does well

**Funding is the easiest part of the app, and that is not nothing.** You can fund with Apple Pay or a debit card without opening an exchange account first, which removes the step most people give up at. Payments run through outside processors rather than through fomo, and fomo names Crossmint as the one behind Apple Pay purchases.

**The social feed is the actual product.** Other apps sell you a chart. fomo sells you a timeline of what other people on the app are holding and buying, and you buy from inside it. Whether that is a feature or a hazard depends on you, and [the social feed guide](/guides/trading/fomo-social-feed-copy-trading) covers what it does and does not do, including the thing most people assume exists and does not.

**Six chains, one app, no bridging.** Solana, Base, BNB Chain, Monad and Ethereum are listed in the help center, and fomo's own newsletter added Robinhood Chain in July 2026. Trades on all of them happen inside the app rather than through a bridge you have to understand first. [Robinhood Chain on fomo](/guides/trading/fomo-robinhood-chain) covers what that one added.

**Perps exist, with real caveats.** fomo added perpetual futures in June 2026 across crypto, equities, indices and commodities. Its terms state plainly that fomo does not operate, control, custody or settle them, and that they are not available to U.S. Persons. [fomo perps and Hyperliquid](/guides/trading/fomo-perps-hyperliquid) has the detail, including why the all-in cost is higher than going to the settling venue directly.

## What breaks

A review written off a press release cannot have this section. Everything below is documented in fomo's help center and quoted from it, and we keep track because the app itself rarely tells you which limit you just hit.

> **Warning:** **A sell that does nothing.** The most common cause fomo documents is an unacknowledged warning label on the token, which you clear on the token's own page rather than in settings. The second is the size floor, quoted verbatim: "If a position in your wallet is worth less than 2 dollars, you will not be able to sell it through the app." There is no setting that lifts it.
>
> **A payment that fails.** fomo lists five causes and four of them are limits rather than faults: an ineligible card type, a bank blocking crypto purchases by default, the 2,500 dollar daily Apple Pay cap that resets at 12 AM EST, a cooldown of at least an hour after repeated attempts, and regional availability.

There is a third one worth naming because it is not a limit at all. Some token contracts carry restrictions written in by their creators, up to and including preventing any sale after purchase. fomo says directly that no platform can override those and that it cannot recover the funds. That is true of every app in this category, and it is a reason to check liquidity and volume before buying rather than a reason to avoid fomo specifically.

None of this makes fomo unusual. What makes it worth writing down is that the app surfaces almost none of it at the moment it happens. Every failure mode above, with the exact quoted wording and what to do about each, is in [common problems and how to fix them](/troubleshooting/fomo-common-problems-fixes).

**Ready with the fee math figured out?** — The referral discount takes the standard rate from 0.50% to 0.45%, and it only applies if the link is opened before the account exists. [Get the fomo app](https://fomo.family/r/Concept211)

## How does fomo compare to the alternatives?

We keep the head-to-head numbers on one page rather than restating them here. The short version, from each platform's own published schedule: fomo's standard rate is 0.50%, Moonshot's documentation prices 2 to 100 dollar orders at 2.5% with a minimum around 0.99 dollars and 1% above 100 dollars, and Phantom documents 0.85% on select swap pairs.

Those are not like for like across every order size, which is exactly why the comparison lives in [crypto trading app fees compared](/compare/crypto-trading-app-fees-compared), with the date each schedule was read. [fomo vs Moonshot](/compare/fomo-vs-moonshot) is the closer of the two matchups.

## Who should use fomo, and who should not?

**It suits you if** your typical order is in the hundreds rather than the tens, you want to fund from a card or Apple Pay without opening an exchange account, and you actively want the social feed rather than merely tolerating it. At 190 USDC and up on Solana, or on any of the flat-rate chains, you pay the advertised rate and the convenience costs you nothing extra.

**It does not suit you if** you buy in small amounts. The Solana bands turn a 10 dollar order into a 2% trade, and no referral discount reaches that: the 10% discount is documented against the standard 0.50% rate, so on Solana it only touches your bill from 190 USDC up.

**It also does not suit you if** you want the cheapest perps, since fomo adds 0.05% on top of the venue's own fee, or if you are a U.S. Person and perps are the reason you are here. And if you want a wallet you alone hold from the first minute, understand first that the wallet is created for you inside the app on third-party key infrastructure, and read what [fomo's own terms say changes](/security/is-fomo-safe-wallet-security) the moment you export the key.

We earn a commission when someone signs up through our link, which is a reason to read the fee section twice rather than to skip it. The parts of this page that argue against signing up are the parts we would want to read first.
